Manage to see what is on the earth...

AN ASTRONOMER used to go out at night to observe the stars.  One evening, as he wandered through the suburbs with his whole attention fixed on the sky, he fell accidentally into a deep well.  While he lamented and bewailed his sores and bruises, and cried loudly for help, a neighbor ran to the well, and learning what had happened said:  "Hark ye, old fellow, why, in striving to pry into what is in heaven, do you not manage to see what is on earth?'

We can always look in to extreme heights, but always having a truth in mind that we live on earth.

A man is known by the company he keeps.

From Fables

A MAN wished to purchase an Ass, and agreed with its owner that he should try out the animal before he bought him.  He took the Ass home and put him in the straw-yard with his other Asses, upon which the new animal left all the others and at once joined the one that was most idle and the greatest eater of them all. Seeing this, the man put a halter on him and led him back to his owner.  On being asked how, in so short a time, he could have made a trial of him,

he answered, "I do not need a trial; I know that he will be just the same as the one he chose for his companion."

The Ants and the Grasshopper

From Fables1

THE ANTS were spending a fine winter's day drying grain collected in the summertime.  A Grasshopper, perishing with famine, passed by and earnestly begged for a little food.  The Ants inquired of him, "Why did you not treasure up food during the summer?'  He replied, "I had not leisure enough.  I passed the days in singing."

They then said in derision:  "If you were foolish enough to sing all the summer, you must dance supperless to bed in the winter."

Moral of the story : "It is thrifty to prepare today for the wants of tomorrow"

1 - Fables : Very similiar to Indian Panchatantra and Jataka Tales (ancient to Fables), fables are Nearly as old as the Olympics, bigger than Dinosaur, older than the Titanic, more complex than Pokemon and more of them than Beanie Babies are Aesop's Fables. Every day hundreds of entire classrooms of kids from all over the world stop by to read, learn and enhance their living experience.

People who have influenced the world through Knowledge Sharing...

Akshay, a senior Project Engineer, was thoughtfully adding sugar to the almost-black coffee that he had just prepared. This was his third cup in 4 hours. What could he do? He needed some stimulants to stay wake and finish his task-at-hand. He'd just started sipping his coffee when he heard someone laugh heartily. He turned to find a senior-looking woman and an apparently younger man shaking hands. He recognized the woman immediately! She was Aarti, the manager of the group that was being spoken about a lot these days! It was the group that had been flooded with many a project recently! It was great news, but he was also aware of the fact that there were many delivery pressures that the group was bound to have given the volume of work. And here she was laughing like a child! He was almost envious of the magnetism and cheerfulness that the woman displayed. How was it that some people seemed to be nonchalant at all times?

What happened next was amazing! It was like as if God had heard his question and decided to give him the answer! The man talking to Aarti posed an even more elaborate question than the one that Akshay had to her! Aarti, I am curious about something. I know I can ask you this question. How is that you manage to get so much work done and don't seem to have to worry about delivering so many products? How do you influence and inspire your teams to do so well? How is it that you are so respected and listened to? I am sure that I have a lot to learn from you on these things!

Akshay almost pricked his ears up like a dog.

Aarti replied spontaneously Let me share some stuff that I've learned and experienced time and again. If you need to achieve and accomplish your objectives, first of all you need to understand that you cannot do it alone and need a team of people, with different competencies, chipping in. That understood; if you want people to join you in accomplishing something, you need to be able to influence and inspire them to join you. Now, how can you influence people?

You can't just order people around and expect things to be sustained for ever! If you share your knowledge and explain the why and how of things and let others take equal ownership of your idea, it simply means you trust them. Trust brings the best out of people. For people to trust you and look up to you, you have to obviously share your knowledge and nurture your team members. You can't expect to be trusted, recognized and looked up to if you hoard knowledge! You'll only be suspected, stayed away from and be seen as selfish.

The person who had asked Aarti the question interrupted excitedly and said YES! It is so easy for me to understand now! I know for a fact that the most popular and successful people are those that don't hoard knowledge but share! After all, they not only are recognized and respected for it but it also so happens that because of the exchanges and interactions that ensue, they learn so much more from the environment as well! They get what they give!

Aarti laughed her hearty laugh again and said Bingo! Akshay suddenly found himself trying to sip from an empty cup but his mind was brimming with freshly brewed thoughts! He almost smiled into the cup.

Yes ! Knowledge sharing is probably the most trusted and sure-fire way of attracting strong forces to join you in accomplishing your objectives.

Man thrives, oddly enough, only in the presence of a challenging

Via Pooran...

You might have read this before...but again..

The Japanese have always loved fresh fish. But the waters close to Japan have not held many fish for decades. So to feed the Japanese population, fishing boats got bigger and went farther than ever. The farther the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring in the fish. If the return trip took more than a few days, the fish were not fresh. The Japanese did not like the taste.

To solve this problem, fishing companies installed freezers on their boats. They would catch the fish and freeze them at sea. Freezers allowed the boats to go farther and stay longer. However, the Japanese could taste the difference between fresh and frozen they did not like frozen fish. The frozen fish brought a lower rice.

So fishing companies installed fish tanks. They would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks, fin to fin. After a little hashing around, the fish stopped moving. They were tired and dull, but alive.

Unfortunately, the Japanese could still taste the difference. Because the fish did not move for days, they lost their fresh-fish taste. The Japanese preferred the lively taste of fresh fish, not sluggish fish.

So how did Japanese fishing companies solve this problem? How do they get fresh-tasting fish to Japan?

To keep the fish tasting fresh, the Japanese fishing companies still put the fish in the tanks. But now they add a small shark to each tank. The shark eats a few fish, but most of the fish arrive in a very lively state.

The fish are challenged.

As soon as you reach your goals, such as finding a wonderful mate, starting a successful company, paying off your debts or whatever, you might lose your passion. You don't need to work so hard so you relax.

Like the Japanese fish problem, the best solution is simple. It was observed by L. Ron Hubbard in the early 1950's.

"Man thrives, oddly enough, only in the presence of a challenging environment."

The Benefits of a Challenge

The more intelligent, persistent and competent you are, the more you enjoy a good problem. If your challenges are the correct size, and if you are steadily conquering those challenges, you are happy. You think of your challenges and get energized. You are excited to try new solutions. You have fun. You are alive!

Recommendations

Instead of avoiding challenges, jump into them. Beat the heck out of them. Enjoy the game.

If your challenges are too large or too numerous, do not give up. Failing makes you tired. Instead, reorganize. Find more determination, more knowledge, more help.

Don't create success and lie in it. You have resources, skills and abilities to make a difference.

Put a shark in your tank and see how far you can really go!

Have a great day and take care :)

Drive safely

Sanjay, a rich guy, loved fast cars and he did have a few in his possession. He loved to speed and could not be bothered about breaking speed limits. Many a time he was caught by the cops and speed radars, fined, but still he never bothered until.

One day as he was driving at a very high speed as usual, he saw a cop following him in his police car. The cop overtook him finally andasked him to stop and checked his license. He then took out his pad and started Writing, and then handed over the sheet of paper to Sanjay.
How much was this one going to cost?Wait a minute. What was this? Some kind of joke? Certainly not a ticket.

Sanjay began to read:

"Dear Sanjay, Once upon a time I had a lovely daughter. She was six when killed by a car. You guessed it - a speeding driver's car.A fine and three months in jail, and the man was free. Free to hug his all his three daughters. I only had one, and I'm going to have to wait until Heaven, before I can ever hug her again. A thousand times I've tried to forgive that man. A thousand times I thought I had. Maybe I did, but I need to do it again.Even now. Pray for me.. And be careful, Sanjay, my son is all I have left."

Sanjay turned around in time to see the cop's car pull away and head down the road. He watched until it disappeared. A full 15 minutes later, he too, pulled away and drove slowly home, praying for forgiveness and hugging a surprised wife and kids when he arrived.
Life is precious. Handle with care. This is an important message; Please pass it along to your friends. Drive safely and carefully. Remember,Cars are not the only things recalled by their maker.

Funny how you can send a thousand jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding thesanctity of life, people think twice about sharing. Funny, how when you go to forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you, for sending it to them.

Pass this on, you may save a life. Maybe not, but we'll never know if WE DON'T TRY.
This may not be safety week.

Drive safely anyway.

Personality Match

If you are a Mouse: Always up to some sort of a mischief! The mischievous gleam in your eyes is what makes you so cute and attractive to everyone.. You are an extremely fun-to-be-with kind of person. No wonder, people seek for your company and look forward to include you for all get-togethers. However, you are sensitive, which is a drawback.People need to select their words while talking to you. If someone tries to fiddle around and play with words while dealing with you, it is enough to invite your wrath. God bless the person then!

Who is a Friend?

Got this as SMS, A Clear definition...

A Friend is ....
A Push When You are Stopped
A Guide When You are Searching
A Song When You are Glad
A Word When You are Lonely
and...
A Smile When You are Sad.

Society, is the Culprit?

The society is a greatest teacher for anybody in for life, on the other hand, it is one of the strong factors to make people think in particular way. Society can make your mind roam in the narrow walls of the world.

as Guruji says in Geetanjali

Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
. . . . . . . . . .
my Father, let my country awake.

How beatiful it is? How many of us know about the depth of truth in our words?
Who is stopping us to speak out the truth? Our minds are whitepapers in childhood. Then who is scribbling on it? Lot of factors are built around human psychology. These are more powerful than the apple eaten by Eve.I have observed some interesting things in life of many people around me and shocked to realize the consequences of thinking in polluted way. People ignore the truth and will start thinking in so many directions.

Don’t Lend An Ear To What Others Say About You

The person making snide or rude comments about you is just trying to trouble you and provoke a conflict. Leave it unattended and tell yourself ‘the person is trivial and misinformed’. Live in such a way that what is said about you cannot be taken to heart. Let your own actions determine how others see you, and then they will not believe the negative things said.

Keep Promises

Whenever one makes a promise at a workplace or elsewhere, no matter what the cost, one must be ready to keep them. The easiest way to lose the respect of others is by guaranteeing things that one is ither unable or unwilling to deliver. Others will note an irresponsible attitude and be wary of approaching an unreliable guy, who continually breaks his promises.

What's the difference between a vision and a cause?

Here's what sets them apart... No one is willing to die for a vision. People will die for a cause. You possess a vision. A cause possesses you. A vision lies in your hands. A cause lies in your heart. A vision involves sacrifice. A cause involves the ultimate sacrifice.

Know People

Learn about others’ interests, their homes and families and their problems. Gaining the confidence of fellow workers is made much easier when one demonstrates a caring attitude. When others are joyful, rejoice with them, when troubled or in mourning, be sympathetic. Let everyone realise that they are regarded important.

How many times do we miss GOD's blessings

A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bhagwad Geeta. Angrily, he raised his voice at his father and said, "With all your money you give me just a Book?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy book. He never contacted his father again for long long time.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father must be very old by now, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care things. When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.

He began to search his father's important papers and saw the still new Bhagwad Geeta, just as he had left it years ago.; With tears, he opened the holy book and began to turn the pages. As he read those words, a car key dropped from an envelope taped behind the holy book. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words ..PAID IN FULL; How many times do we miss GOD's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected? "Challenges are what makes life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful."

Take Care Of others’ Feelings

Humour at another’s expense is rarely worth the trouble. Not only that, the hurt and pain felt by that person will often come when least expected. Take into account another person’s feelings before you poke fun. Things said in jest are often the sharpest barbs to be felt. Be humorous not pungent.

Be Supportive And Encouraging

Never let an opportunity to show kindness or encouragement to others to pass by. Praise good work, regardless of who did it. Sometimes one can turn even the most hardened of fellow workers into real softies once they realise that you are not afraid to compliment them or give encouraging words, despite how they may perceive you ordinarily. At the same time, when giving criticism, do it helpfully and gently, never spitefully. Show concern for another's feelings and well being. One can benefit greatly from even the smallest kindness shown.

Positive Relationships

Building positive relationship at work is vital to an individual's success. It is not an easy task as it involves working with people having different attitudes, working styles, goals and moods. However, a little understanding, bit of tolerance, flexibility and lot of common sense can make one's task smoother, says Aditi Joshi

Everybody would agree that a dream job is a place where one looks forward to going to work and not a place one dreads because of the co-workers. With diversity at workplace becoming a reality in all fields, getting along with everyone at work has become a real challenge. Developing positive relationships at work is like block building. Just as fitting the right block in the right bracket leads to the desired shape, a right application of behaviour at right time leads to better understanding, communication and hence better relations.

It is important to realise that when people come to work each day, they don't leave their insecurities, personal problems and personality quirks at home. They come marching right into the office with them, and that's why there are so many conflicts and hiccups at work.
